Mariah's Massive Merriest Milestones

A huge week for both AIWFCIY and Merry Christmas!

In exclusive company: The very obvious milestone this week is AIWFCIY equaling the legendary WBT's 14 weeks at #1 on the Hot 100. AIW's latest week at #1 also elevates it on the list of longest Hot 100 #1 songs in history, joining WBT in sitting behind only 5 songs which have spent more weeks at #1, one of which is Mariah's own OSD.

5th year of double ones: In hitting #1 on the Hot 100 for the second time this season, AIWFCIY has continued its streak of multiple weeks at #1 per season for a 5th year in a row. It currently matches its run in 2020 with 2 weeks at the top and 2 weeks at #2.

Longest and mostest: AIWFCIY's latest week at #1 on the Hot 100 is its 12th in the 2020s, placing it third amongst longest #1 songs this decade, and moves Mariah up one spot to 6th on the list of artists with most weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 this decade.

Top fiving and thriving: AIWFCIY has now spent an impressive 25 weeks in the top 5 of the Hot 100, becoming one of only 11 songs in the history of the Hot 100 to spend 25 weeks or more in the chart's top 5.

Top two too: And in the top 2 of the Hot 100 AIWFCIY has also reached a milestone. It has now spent 20 weeks in the top 2, moving one week and one spot ahead of Old Town Road for total weeks in the top 2 of the Hot 100... no easy feat.

20+20+20: AIWFCIY has amassed 60 weeks in the top 20 of the Digital Song Sales chart (previously Hot Digital Songs) since it first charted on there in 2004. It spent 25 of those weeks in its first 10 years of charting from 2004 to 2013, and 35 weeks in its most recent decade from 2014 to 2023.

Not far behind: On the more recently introduced Most Streamed Songs chart (previously Streaming Songs) AIWFCIY logs its 60th week in the top 40, amassed since 2013. AIW's streaming success is slowly catching up to its impressive sales run as it tends to log one or two additional weeks in the top 20 of streaming each season compared to its run on digital songs.

Still a super streaming smash: Despite not hitting #1 on the streaming songs chart so far this season, AIWFCIY has now amassed a very impressive 25 weeks in the top 2 of the Most Streamed Songs chart, all in the space of six holiday seasons.

 MC2: Merry Christmas

MC2: Merry Christmas has now spent an incredible 92 weeks in the top 100 of the Billboard 200 albums chart. This is hugely significant as it now equals the original MC, Mariah Carey, for most weeks a Mariah album has spent in the top 100. This is very notable as the Debut boasts an impressive lengthy chart run.

MC≥MB: Merry Christmas has also joined another superb 'M' album, as it equals Music Box's 40 weeks in the top 20 of the Billboard 200 albums chart. A trio of other legendary albums lie ahead but Merry Christmas has made its mark and is continuing to chart new territory for Mariah.

Mariah's Massive Merriest Milestones

A huge season for AIW and Merry Christmas in the US culminates this week with even more milestones!

All time top two top two: Coming for another record, AIWFCIY has now spent 21 weeks inside the Hot 100's top 2. This places it in a three way tie for second place amongst songs with the most weeks in the top 2, and within a season of claiming the top spot. AIW first hit the top 2 on the Hot 100 in 2019 when it landed at #1.

Top three top three: With 24 weeks in the top 3 of the Hot 100, AIWFICY is outright third amongst songs with the most weeks inside the top 3 and not without a solid chance to move in to the top spot in a season. AIW first hit the top 3 in the 2018 season when it peaked at its then highest position of #3.

Top five top five: A recurring theme here, AIWFCIY achieves the 5th highest total number of weeks a song has ever spent in the Hot 100's top 5, amassing its 26th week. It is one of 8 songs at 26 weeks or more. AIW first hit the top 5 in the 2018 season.

Always be legendary: AIWFCIY spends its 32nd week in the Hot 100's top 10. It's on the edge of the all time top 10, however this number has a Mariah connection in that 32 weeks is how long the legendary and longevity icon ABMB spent on the Hot 100, at the time a record among Mariah songs for longest charting song.

Belong together but standing on its own: AIWFCIY has cemented its place as one of Mariah's most iconic songs but in charting terms it's standing on its own. It now has spent more weeks in the Hot 100's top 20 at 44 weeks than WBT did on the Hot 100, with its 43 week run in 2005 making it Mariah's longest charting single ever at the time. Impressive from both songs on both counts!

A holiday staple: AIWFCIY has now achieved 60 weeks on Billboard's top airplay chart dating back to its debut in 1994. In fact it was such a hit at the time that it charted in 1994, 1995, and 1996 on Hot 100 Airplay, and again in 2000, before beginning its annual holiday assault on the airplay charts (now Radio Songs) in 2012.

A season best : Although it did not hit #1 on the Streaming Songs chart, AIWFCIY managed 6 weeks inside the chart's top 2, and 7 weeks inside its top 10, both measures a season best, surpassing previous years where it managed 5 weeks in the top 2 and 6 weeks inside the top 10 at most.

MC>MC: Spending its 93rd week inside the top 100 of the Billboard 200 albums chart, Merry Christmas now holds by itself the record for most weeks a Mariah album has spent in the top half of that chart, surpassing the original MC, Mariah Carey, which in 1991 spent its 92nd week in the top 100, holding that record since then... till now.

A Christmas dream: Merry Christmas not only surpasses Music Box for weeks inside Billboard 200's top 20, but equals the legendary Daydream with 41 weeks. Merry Christmas now moves into equal third amongst Mariah's longest top 20 charting albums.
