Revolution Radio débute #1 au Royaume-Uni avec 30,880 ventes.

Pour l'occasion, Music Week a dévoilé certains totaux de leurs anciens albums :

Dookie : 966,575 exemplaires (à corriger donc sur le récap')

American Idiot : 2,171,058 exemplaires :throb:

¡Uno! : 125,531 exemplaires

¡Dos! : 91,870 exemplaires

¡Tré! : 62,457 exemplaires

In a week when the record for most Top 10 debuts is equalled, Green Day lead the mass influx, topping the chart for the third time in their career with 12th studio album, Revolution Radio.

With first week sales of 30,880 (including 1,410 from streams) Revolution Radio is far ahead of the chasing pack but well below the opening tallies of 89,385 and 79,770 that produced their previous No.1 debuts via American Idiot (2004) and 21st Century Breakdown (2009) respectively. It is even further below their record weekly sale of 104,790 set by American Idiot on its 14th week in the chart, in the sales period immediately prior to Christmas 2004.

Revolution Radio is Green Day's first album since they released a trio of studio albums in less than three months in 2012, with ¡Tré!, the third and last album in the trilogy arriving at number 31 (23,981 sales) just 11 weeks after ¡Uno!, the first album, debuted at number two on sales of 42,651 copies, and four weeks after the second ¡Dos! debuted at number 10 (24,613 sales). ¡Uno! has thus far sold 125,531 copies, with ¡Dos! on 91,870 sales, and ¡Tré! on 62,457. American Idiot is by far the band's biggest seller, with a to-date tally of 2,171,058 sales, followed by their third album Dookie, which gave them their breakthrough in 1994, and has sold 966,575 copies, despite peaking at No.13. Including live albums and compilations, Green Day have placed 14 albums in the Top 75, and eight in the Top 10.

J'adore.

Citation

It’s another great day for Green Day, whose 14th studio album, Saviors, debuts atop the album chart, becoming their fifth No.1.

In the 10th change of leadership of the chart in a row, it achieved consumption of 31,361 units (14,955 CDs, 10,420 vinyl albums, 1,124 cassettes, 1,493 digital downloads and 3,369 sales-equivalent streams) – 34.08% up on its immediate predecessor, Father Of All…, which also debuted at No.1 in February 2020 on consumption of 23,389 units.

Green Day’s previous No.1 debuts, American Idiot (2004), 21st Century Breakdown (2009) and Revolution Radio (2016) had opening tallies of 89,385, 79,770 and 30,880, respectively. Their record weekly sale of 104,790 was set by American Idiot on its 14th week of availability, in the sales period immediately prior to Christmas 2004, when it was ranked 13th in the chart.

American Idiot is by far the band's biggest album, with to-date consumption of 2,498,857 units (2,247,809 pure sales), followed by their third album Dookie, which gave them their breakthrough in 1994, and has consumption of 1,087,216 copies (1,005,791 pure sales), despite peaking at No.13. Including live albums and compilations, Green Day have placed 18 albums in the Top 75, and 10 in the Top 10. Two of the rock/punk trio’s three members – leader Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt - have been with them since their formation in 1987, while Tre Cool joined in 1990. All are 51 years old.

Green Day are one of 29 acts to have at least one No.1 album in each of the first three decades of the 21st century, and one of seven American groups to do so, the others being Foo Fighters, Kings Of Leon, Paramore, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slipknot and The Killers. They are also the 31st act to have at least five No.1 albums in the 21st century, and the 56th in chart history.
